Exploring the Aegean by Rental Car in Turkey
In the early hours of the morning, as my plane’s wheels lightly touched down on the runway at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport, the cabin lights came on, and I felt an indescribable excitement—I was setting foot in Turkey for the very first time. Passing through passport control was much quicker than I expected. The officers were kind, even smiling. By the time I collected my luggage, it was 08:45.
Heading towards the domestic arrivals, I was greeted by the warm Aegean air and an impatient excitement for the journey ahead. The airport signage was clear and easy to follow, allowing me to navigate this unfamiliar country without feeling lost. I contacted the rental car company I had booked in advance. Shortly after, an attendant holding a name card with mine appeared at the terminal exit. Friendly and professional, they guided me through the process. After verifying my passport, driver’s license, and credit card, we proceeded to the car pick-up point. The car before me, modern and spotless, immediately inspired confidence. When I started the engine, I felt a new connection to the world outside. I was ready to explore Turkey at my own pace.
